Direct Care Staff

Job Description:

Direct Care Support Staff coordinate and assist with the total day-to-day
programming operations and administration needed to enhance the continuing
development of the individual clients being served.  As part of the position, the
Employee must provide direct feedback to other direct care support Employees,
families, and to RETRO management to ensure that each individual client progresses
toward a better quality of life.


v  Responsible for assisting the management in creating a positive working relationship
     between all Employees, consumers, families and others.

v  To communicate the acceptance of policies and procedures to all Employees.

v  To encourage actions that creates a positive working environment.

v  To encourage Employees, consumers, families and others to solve conflicts at an early

v  To channel complaints, suggestions and information through organizational chart.

v  To work as a team member in meeting the individual’s needs and company goals and


v  Interest in the commitment to serve and improve the quality of life for
     individuals with developmental, physical or mental disabilities.

v  Kind, compassionate, and caring.

v  Be of good moral character.

v  Have a high school diploma or GED, or demonstrate the ability to read and write
     adequately to complete required forms and reports and to follow written directions. 

v  Must be at least 18 years of age.

v  Current Driver’s License and current vehicle insurance which meets the statutory
     minimum levels.

v  Ability to work evenings, weekends and flexible hours

v  Have the skills to coordinate the records, documentation, correspondence, and
     miscellaneous duties in proportion to the programming for the individuals being served. 

v  Have knowledge of development delays, mental illness, human behavior, gentle teaching,
    quality of life, and relationships. 

v  Have the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with the
    direct service employees and individuals and to deal positively with persons outside the

v  Maturity and judgment to work with materials of a confidential nature.
